Our client is a well-established facilities management SME based in West Sussex.

They are in a strong financial position and are looking to recruit a forward-thinking Head of Finance who will play a key role in transforming the finance department and creating a solid platform for their future growth.  

Head of Finance - The Role 

As Head of Finance, you will support the MD with introducing processes and controls to tighten up the finance function and help with next stage growth plans.

You will be required to get into the detail, understanding and improving processes, whilst also being confident managing a small team and presenting financial data and recommendations to senior management.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the finances of the business including production and analysis of monthly results and responsibility for VAT, tax, cash management, oversight of payroll etc;
• Ability to provide sound financial and commercial management, including budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management;
• Coordinate the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and develop systems to improve reporting requirements; 
• Prepare and present financial reports;
• Ensure all statutory financial compliance requirements are met;  
• Assist with ad hoc finance projects. 

The Successful Applicant 

As Head of Finance, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who has experience of working in low margin B2B SME’s.

Ideally you will demonstrate: 

• A diligent, problem solving and proactive attitude - prepared to be into the detail of the accounts as well as assisting with strategic planning;

• Experience of developing systems to improve reporting requirements; 
• Strong analytical, presentation and Excel skills;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; 

• A pragmatic, self-motivated and proactive mindset.

They are seeking an experienced Head of Finance to maintain the company’s finances and manage the finance team.  

This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance looking for a more strategic and operational role, whilst still happy to be involved in monthly reporting etc. 
  

Head of Finance – The Role 

As Head of Finance, you will be an experienced hands-on accountant and have the commercial awareness to assist the company with its growth and implement change.     

Specifically, you will: 

• Lead the finance function, taking responsibility for all aspects of financial management; 

• Prepare the monthly management accounts pack and provide insightful analysis; 

• Produce and monitor forecasts and budgets;    

• Monitoring cash and prepare cash flow forecasts; 

• Provide strategic and financial support to the directors; 
• Oversee tax planning and compliance for all jurisdictions;
• Lead the due diligence process on potential acquisitions;

• Ensure all statutory and regulatory financial compliance requirements are met; 

• Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with key stakeholders including auditors, insurance brokers and HMRC.

As Head of Finance, you will most likely be a qualified accountant, ideally with a successful track record in an owner-managed SME. • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified;

• Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/AAT);
• A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience;
• Cloud based accounting experience desirable;
• An inquiring analytical mind and ability to work under own initiative;
